Rathi Param is the president/founder of the NACPT Pharma College, International Medical Cannabis Association (IMCA), and Validation Tech Inc. Rathi earned her B.Sc. in Chemistry from University Ottawa, MBA in Technology from the University of Phoenix, and Post Graduate Pharmaceutical QA & QC Certification from SRN Institute.
She is an innovative and creative leader with more than twenty years of hands-on experience in many scientific industries (medical cannabis, medical devices, environmental, food, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical), complemented with fifteen years of academic and corporate training experience. She holds extensive expertise and knowledge in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Formulation, Validation, Technology Transfer, Manufacturing Technology, Process Improvements, Auditing, and Inspection.
Today, Rathi is the Dean of NACPT Pharma College, Head of Health Canada approved Research and Development cannabis facility of IMCA, and Head of Cannabis Laboratory at Validation Tech Inc. Rathi is recognized for developing the first-ever ministry approved Cannabis Diploma programs in Canada. She also acts as the Quality Assurance Person (QAP) consultant for Green Amber Canada (Cannabis Producer) and holds consultant positions for many new and existing cannabis companies in Canada. Moreover, Rathi has assisted medical cannabis companies to become a Licensed Producer of Cannabis for Medical Purposes through Health Canada.
In the past 15+ years, Rathi has held strategic management roles in major Canadian pharmaceutical companies. Rathi’s interest in helping students, employers, and professionals across the world to commence their careers in the cannabis, pharmaceutical, and related industries was the motivation behind the launch of NACPT Pharma College, International Medical Cannabis Association (IMCA), and Validation Tech; to provide hands-on training and create a platform to direct the pathway to successful recruitment by the pharmaceutical, cannabis and related companies.
● Naheed Kausar, M.Sc., QA Senior Manager from SGS, Faculty Member of Cannabis Quality Control and Quality Assurance
With 20 years of quality control and quality assurance experience in the pharmaceutical industry and an M.Sc. in Chemistry, Naheed Kausar joined the North American College of Pharmaceutical Technology in 2013. She is heading the Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, GMP, GPP, GCP, GLP, and GDP courses and teaching students to handle industry regulations with care. Her expertise in the technical and regulatory divisions of cannabis and pharmaceutical companies helps students understand the companies’ regulatory body and compliance requirements.
● Gavin Clark, Managing Director. Delta Eight Pharmaceuticals, Faculty Member of Cannabis Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Gavin Clark has a deep understanding of cannabis and the developing industry in Canada and internationally, including the many beneficial properties of cannabis chemistry, their medical applications, and the legal framework regulating it in Canada.
Gavin is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Western Ontario. As Managing Director of Delta Eight Pharmaceuticals, Gavin is involved in research and development work in medical and recreational cannabis. Gavin is currently working as an advisor to cannabis-based businesses, including Newstrike and Up Cannabis.
● Dr.Carlos Aragon, Process Improvement Consultant, Sanofi Pasteur Ltd, Faculty Member of Cannabis Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Dr. Carlos Aragon is a Manager in Process and Products at Sanofi Pasteur Limited, in Toronto. He has 15 years of experience working in research laboratories, pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry; research & development and Quality Control achieving results, improving new techniques, procedures and products with advanced scientific knowledge.
He has strong understanding and knowledge in analytical method development such as Bioreactors fermentation processes, Chromatographic Procedures focus on HPLC, FPLC, and UPLC. He also possesses a good knowledge of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP’s), for labs and knowledge of FDA, TPD and ICH requirements. Dr. Aragon is a Biochemist who completed a PhD in Biotechnology from University of Lisbon, Portugal and was associated with University of Lisbon (Portugal) and University of Ciego de Avila (Cuba) as Researcher and Supervisor. Through his research work, Carlos developed in-depth knowledge and skills in cannabis bio-technology.
● Elena Cristache, QA Manager, Faculty Member of Cannabis Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Elena earned her Bachelor of Engineering Degree Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Cannabis Quality Assurance Certificate.
Elena is a quality and results-driven professional with over 15 years of experience in Pharmaceutical and related industries, managing Quality Systems and training employees with leading pharmaceutical companies such as Apotex Corp., GERMIPHENE Corp, and BAXTER CORPORATION. In her past roles, she was an instrumental part in ensuring that good documentation practices (GDP) were being followed by all employees and provided coaching and training where necessary to ensure compliance. When large organization system changes such as a new Global Service Platform and QMS TrackWise8 were to be implemented, Elena managed all aspects of the training and supported employees through the difficult transition. Moreover, Elena has a tremendous grasp of the quality toolbox and has successfully helped the organization investigate root cause & analysis to resolve complex business issues.
Elena has in-depth knowledge about many cannabis instrumentations such as HPLC, GC, GC-MS, and dissolution apparatus.
● Gaurav Raval, Training Team, NACPT, Faculty Member of Industrial Cannabis Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Gaurav Raval joined the NACPT Lead Training Team in 2020 as part of the Cannabis Quality Control and Quality Assurance department. He has trained students and employees in cannabis analytical testing, method development, and validation using HPLC, GC, and Dissolution Apparatus.
Gaurav Raval is a highly focused and detail-oriented analytical scientist with ten years of academic and professional experience specializing in R & D, analytical method development and validation, technical instrumentation, and scientific report writing. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Toronto (St.George Campus). During his M.Sc., he conducted cutting edge research work in collaboration with two well-known professors (Dr. Heiko Heerklotz and Dr. Shirley Wu). His research’s primary focus was the biophysical interaction of anti-cancer drug Doxorubicin with novel lipid nanoparticles using various analytical instruments.
During his M.Sc. program, Gaurav also worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for teaching undergraduate life science courses and upper-year pharmacy courses (both labs and lectures). He also obtained a specialized Teaching Fundamental (TF) certificate at the TATP Institute at University of Toronto. Prior to joining NACPT, Gaurav worked as a Senior Analytical Chemist at leading cGMP contract development and manufacturing company called Dalton Pharma Services. He also worked as a Scientist at a pharmaceutical contract testing company called Exova Inc. (now called Element Materials Technology). At these companies, Gaurav was primarily responsible for optimizing, developing, and validating HPLC/UPLC and GC analytical methods for the analysis of various product formulations, including cough syrups (Impurity analysis), tablets, lipid formulations, biological products (Vitamins and Amino Acid analysis) and cannabis products (CBN creams and CBD oil). Gaurav has an intensive working knowledge of cGMP, GLP, USP, and ICH guidelines.
● Alex Goldstein, CPP, CISSO, Faculty Member of Industrial Cannabis Production Technology
Alex Goldstein, CPP, CISSO, holds an Honor BA from York University, double-majoring in Criminology and History, a Certified Protection Professional Certification from ASIS International, and a Certified Information Systems Security Officer Certification from the United States Committee on National Security Systems. In his 14 years of progressive experience servicing the Canadian public sector and private Security industries, most recently, he worked with Led Threat Risk Assessments and suitability reviews, site audits, Standard Operating Procedure reviews, and site/design plan consulting for cannabis companies across Canada. Over the last few years, Alex has been closely working with many start-ups and existing leading cannabis companies to develop security plans, plant management systems, and facility design.
● Dr. AKM Abdul Hai, Senior Scientist, Faculty Member of Industrial Cannabis Production Technology
Dr. AKM Abdul Hai has many years of experience as a Product Development Scientist involving API Synthesis, Analytical Method, and Formulation Development. His extensive knowledge of processes of Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical drug products supported his career in Canada and abroad. To name a few, he has been working as a Chief Scientist at Molesci & Matesci Inc, Scarborough and worked as Chief Scientific Officer with CMI Cosmetic, Toronto. Dr. Hai completed his PhD from Okayama University, Japan in the field of Beta-Lactam Antibiotic Chemistry and his work is published in high level research journals and acquired specialization in Organo-copper Chemistry from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. Dr Hai also did Post-doctoral research at the Department of Forest Biomaterials, North Carolina State University, USA. He carried out Research on Ionic Liquid Synthesis and its application to Plant Derived Biomass conversion to small molecules of commercial application. He also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Modern Technology.
Dr Hai was a Senior Chemist with Toronto Research Chemicals Inc, Toronto and worked on the Synthesis of Organic Complex molecules for Biomedical Research. Dr. AKM is heavily involved in Cannabis oil extraction processes and cannabinoids based product Formulation and Analytical development. Dr. AKM has been closely working with many start-up and existing leading cannabis companies in terms of cannabis product development and extraction process design.
